Why Choose Sonder Home Care?

Choosing care for yourself or someone you love is a big decision. It is not just about finding support with daily routines; it is about finding people you can trust, feel comfortable with, and welcome into your home.

At Sonder Home Care, we believe care should feel personal, familiar and reassuring. Every person we support has their own story, preferences, routines and way of living, and our role is to help them continue living safely and happily in the place they know best: their own home.

From our experienced office team to our wonderful carers, everything we do is centred around kindness, consistency and thoughtful, person-centred care.

CQC Rated ‘Outstanding’

CLICK TO READ OUR REPORT!

We are proud to be rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator for health and social care services in England.

For us, this rating reflects what Sonder Home Care is all about: compassionate, reliable and deeply personal care that helps people feel safe, valued and understood in their own homes.

In their inspection report, CQC highlighted the way people and their families were placed at the heart of everything we do. This included carefully matching carers with clients, offering meaningful activities to reduce loneliness, and providing support that was responsive, thoughtful and genuinely person-centred.

CQC also recognised our carers as exceptionally caring, compassionate and kind, with clients describing them as uplifting, professional and reassuring.

Being rated Outstanding is something we are incredibly proud of — but more importantly, it is something we continue to work hard to live up to every day.

“She’s like a ray of sunshine coming in.”

“I can’t fault the carer, she is more of a friend.”

“They lift my spirits when they come in.”

“The carer is excellent — young and brings life into me.”

“I’m very satisfied. They are very caring, very professional.”

“A great relaxed crew that I am happy to spend leisure time with.”

These words mean a great deal to us because they reflect the type of care we always aim to provide: care that is professional, but also warm, familiar and uplifting.

What our clients told CQC

We know how important it is to see familiar faces, especially when inviting someone into your home.

That is why we focus on continuity of care, carefully matching each client with a small, consistent team of carers wherever possible. This helps build trust, comfort and understanding over time.

When carers truly get to know a person, they can notice the little things — how they like their tea, what time they prefer their routine, the stories they enjoy sharing, and when something does not quite seem right.

This consistency allows our clients to feel more relaxed and reassured, while families can feel confident that their loved one is being supported by people who know them well.

Continuity of Care

Weekly Events!

More than just care at home — our weekly events bring companionship, laughter and meaningful moments into our clients’ lives.

Keeping Families Connected

Starting care can bring up a lot of questions, especially for families trying to make the right decision for someone they love.

At Sonder, our team is here from the very beginning — talking through your options, getting to know your situation, and helping put the right support in place. From the first enquiry to assessments, care plans and ongoing reviews, we make sure families feel involved and informed throughout the journey.

We also use the Birdie app to keep care organised and easy to follow. After each visit, carers can record secure notes and updates, giving families a clearer view of the support their loved one has received.

This is especially helpful for relatives who may not live nearby, offering reassurance that important details are being recorded and shared. It also helps our office team stay closely connected to each client’s care, so any changes or concerns can be picked up quickly.

Our aim is to make care feel less overwhelming and more joined-up — for clients and for the people who love them.

Confident Carers, Exceptional Care

Great care starts long before a carer arrives at someone’s door. It begins with the right training, support and confidence behind them. At Sonder, we take time to make sure every carer feels prepared, valued and supported, so they can provide care that is not only safe and professional, but also kind, personal and reassuring.

Welcome to Sonder

Every new carer begins with our Welcome to Sonder induction, where they learn about who we are, our values, our standards and the person-centred approach behind everything we do. This helps carers understand not just what we do, but how we want care to feel for every client.

Essential Care Skills

Our carers complete in-depth, face-to-face training in key areas including moving and handling, medication and basic life support. This training is practical, interactive and hands-on, helping carers build the confidence and skills needed to support clients safely and professionally.

Birdie & Simulated Visit

Carers are trained on the Birdie app so they can confidently read care plans, record notes and keep families updated. They also take part in simulated visit training, giving them the chance to practise real-life care situations in a supportive setting before visiting clients independently.

Shadowing & Ongoing Support

Before working independently, new carers complete shadowing visits with experienced team members. This helps them get to know clients’ routines, build confidence in a real home setting and feel supported from the very beginning.

Personalised Care, Built Around You

No two people are the same, so no two care plans should be the same either.

Before care begins, we take the time to properly understand each person — their needs, routines, preferences, personality and what matters most to them. This helps us create a care plan that feels personal, respectful and practical from the very beginning.

Whether someone needs companionship, personal care, home help, dementia care, respite support or more specialist support, our approach is always shaped around the individual.

When you first join Sonder, one of our Client Experience Managers will support you through the beginning of your care journey. They will introduce you to your carer and help make the first visit feel as smooth, comfortable and reassuring as possible. This means you are not meeting someone new alone, and there is always a familiar member of our office team there to guide the introduction.

Our care plans are regularly reviewed and can be adapted as needs change, giving clients and families flexibility, reassurance and ongoing support.

Finding the right care can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Whether you need a little help at home, companionship, personal care, dementia support or more specialist care, we’ll listen to what matters most and help shape support around you.

When you’re ready, our team will be happy to talk things through.
